Therapy That’s About You

Therapy isn’t about quick fixes or advice

It’s about creating a safe, consistent space where you can reflect, explore, and grow.

Counselling has always adapted — from community halls to therapy rooms, and now online. Safe Spaces offers therapy that is flexible, professional, and human. It isn’t second best. It’s the next chapter in creating accessible and meaningful support.

I trained in both in-person and remote counselling, and then sought further specialist qualifications in online therapy. That means you get the same depth, safety, and professionalism — wherever you are.

Before diving into the practicals, it helps to be clear on what therapy is — and what it isn’t.

You can read through everything below, or if you’d prefer, you can jump straight to a section that feels most relevant to you:

What Therapy Is (and Isn’t)

Therapy is about you — your voice, your story, your pace. It creates space to reflect, explore patterns, and work towards change.

  • Therapy is: listening, reflecting, exploring patterns, supporting growth.
  • Therapy isn’t: giving medical, housing, or legal advice.
  • If needed, I can provide a simple letter confirming you are in therapy (£20), but I don’t write advocacy or medical-style reports.

Session options

Different people need different ways of connecting. All options hold the same professional standards, adapted to what works best for you:

Video Counselling

Closest to being in the room together. Video sessions allow us to see facial expressions, body language, and presence — helping to build connection and clarity. Ideal if you value a face-to-face feel without the travel.

Why this matters for you: connection feels more natural, even from a distance.

Audio Counselling

A good fit for clients who prefer focus without the distraction of video. Many people find they can go deeper in reflection when they’re not on camera. Audio offers privacy, flexibility, and the chance to focus fully on your words.

Why this matters for you: space to reflect without feeling on show.

Phone Counselling

The simplest option — accessible, flexible, and familiar. Phone sessions are useful if technology feels overwhelming or you prefer the ease of a regular call. Great for keeping therapy consistent wherever you are.

Why this matters for you: easy, familiar, and always within reach.

The 6 Session Frame

At Safe Spaces, therapy begins with an initial frame of six sessions. This gives enough time to build trust, explore your reasons for coming, and see change starting to take shape.

Session six is always a review point. Together, we pause to reflect:

  • What has shifted so far?
  • What still needs attention?
  • Should we continue, adjust, or bring things to a close?

For some, six sessions are enough. For others, it’s the start of longer-term work. Either way, you won’t be left drifting — you’ll always know where you stand.

Six sessions give us space to settle, explore, and review together. For some, it’s enough. For others, it’s the beginning of deeper work.

In my training and experience in IAPT – i appreciated how individual each journey is, and used my experience to provide an approach which reflects that.

Reviews & Endings

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Reviews usually happen every six sessions, so we can check how things are going and what’s needed next.

Endings are part of that process. I recommend at least one session’s notice, so we can bring things to a safe and thoughtful close. A proper ending allows us to take stock of the work done, honour progress, and leave you with clarity.

Availability & Pricing

Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually weekly. Evening appointments are available, with some flexibility to support carers and those with changing schedules.

Support Tailored to You

Therapy isn’t about fitting into a rigid mould. It’s about finding a way of working that supports you — whether that’s a short block, ongoing sessions, or a safe space to return to when life feels too much.

Therapy begins with connection. If this space feels right, I’d love to hear from you.
