Why Me? Lived experience & Therapeutically trained.
Why me? Therapy isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence. This reflection shares why lived experience, contradictions, and resilience matter more than flawless answers, and how being real creates safer spaces for growth.
INSIGHTSSAFE SPACES THERAPY ONLINE
If you asked me why I’m the right person to walk alongside someone —
to listen, to hold space, to help rebuild what life has shattered —
I could tell you about my training, my experience, the hours spent learning.
But that wouldn’t be the whole truth.
The truth is messier. And stronger.
Real, Not Perfect
I’m not the right person because I’m flawless.
I’m the right person because I’m real.
I am made of contradictions:
Neurodiverse: ADHD fire and autistic depth, woven together.
Fiercely capable: able to carry what would crush others, yet sensitive enough to feel the smallest shifts in a room.
Logical and intuitive: mapping patterns, reading energy and silence faster than words could travel.
Joyful and raw. Loyal and ruthless. Structured and chaotic. Grounded and storm-born.
Every label people have ever tried to place on me — gay, HIV-positive, neurodivergent, carer, trauma survivor — they are all true.
And none of them are the whole.
Belonging to the Real
I don’t belong in a box.
I don’t belong to a type.
I belong to the world of the real.
To those places where people ache, not because they’re weak, but because they’re alive.
To those spaces where truth matters more than appearances.
To those moments where survival needs to transform into thriving.
I have lived it:
The feeling of being “too much” and “not enough” all at once.
The burn of doing the right thing and still being broken.
The quiet bravery of standing up again — without applause, without even being seen.
Meeting People Where They Are
Strength isn’t born from the absence of pain.
It’s born from carrying it, learning from it, and refusing to let it define you.
I don’t flinch at people’s shadows. I don’t fear their rage, or grief, or hope.
I’ve sat in all of those places myself and survived.
Not polished.
Not flawless.
Real. Alive. Stronger.
Why Me
I am the map.
Drawn in scars.
Stitched in laughter.
Sealed in storms.
I don’t offer perfect answers. I offer presence. Courage. Depth. Truth. Space.
And sometimes, the right person for you isn’t the one who claims to have it all together.
It’s the one who’s walked their broken road and still chose to stay open.
Still chose life.
Still chooses you.
That’s why me.
